Cocktails Not Mocktails!!!

This past week my friends threw me the most perfect baby shower/birthday party!!! But as I think about it what’s perfect for me is not perfect for everyone else. The way I like it may not be the way my friend does.

It was at a hotel bar. Instead of baby bottles they gave me liquor bottles. Instead of clothes they gave me condoms. Instead of baby rhymes I got cocktail books. And instead of the typical food and mocktails this shower was strictly champagne and drinks!!! What could be better for party mom?? Maybe drinking the champagne and then bringing the bar back to my hotel suite for an after party. But hey, give me a few weeks and I can make it happen!

I guess I’m not the type of girl who likes showers. To me whether it’s a baby shower or wedding shower they both kind of suck. I mean they are super cute and most I go to are super beautiful and the food is always the best, but who wants to sit there and watch someone open baby clothes or pots and pans and play those stupid games. NOT ME!!!! But remember I love celebrations for anyone and especially my friends and family. I love throwing people parties of all kind, but dainty showers and tea parties bore me to death!!!

EVEN THOUGH THESE TYPES OF PARTIES ARE NOT MY CUP OF TEA I AM STILL THERE HAVING A GREAT TIME AND CELEBRATING THE OCCASION.

At any kind of party I truly feel that it’s not only about the person of the hour. It’s about everyone!! Even if your friends are throwing a party in your honor you should never forget what’s going on with them. The party was in my honor, but in my eyes it’s another reason to celebrate my friends who just had babies, my friends that are pregnant, the upcoming nuptials of my sister, and all the wonderful friendship and love in the room. Not to mention it’s the holidays!!!! It’s like the rule that you can’t wear white to a wedding. GIVE ME A BREAK!! You think no one is gonna know who the bride is if someone else is wearing the same color dress?

To me life is not as much fun if you make it all about you. The more to celebrate the better!!! So what if it’s your engagement party. Don’t forget about your friend there that just had a baby or that just got married too!

I thank my girls tons for making my night so fun and special. But I also thank each of them for their lives which offer so much for me to celebrate and look forward too!!! We wouldn’t have so much to talk and smile about it weren’t for all of us!!

Until Next Time,

Tis the Season!!!!

I was at Whole Foods yesterday and it really hit me that the season has begun!! I love this time of year. I walked around sampling every holiday recipe that they were giving out. I love all the glitz, glamour, and food that make me realize the season has begun.

Most people get irritated around this time of year. The mall traffic, Christmas carols, decorations, and over joyfulness gets annoying to them. But not me. Once Halloween begins I am SOOOOO happy. Fall is here. The weather is changing and it puts the biggest smile on my face. I love it when the time changes and you feel like it’s 7, but it’s only 6. It makes me want to curl up on the couch with the TV, hubby, and a nice scotch. Most people hate this time change. But of course not me and as you can tell from my blog, I am not like everyone else. When the Christmas music starts playing on the radio I turn it up so loud and sing my brains out. Lastly, my favorite thing about this time of the year is all the parties. Everyone is out and about celebrating. Restaurants, bars, and venues are filled with people drinking and toasting.

I used to wonder why I go to this extreme level of excitement this time of year and I realized it’s because of my family. We always make everything into a celebration. Whether my sister got a new car or it was just a pretty Sunday night we always toast and celebrate. Why not do it like this. Life is too short not to celebrate every minute you can.

So take my advice, readers. Enjoy the holiday season. Be happy, thankful, and celebrate with everything around you. Don’t get irritated over the nonstop jingle bell rock on the radio. Just go with it. Between the economic crises and life’s everyday obstacles, you are only going to enjoy this time of the year if you let yourself. Also in four weeks and counting I will be there celebrating with you. A new born in one arm, a one year old in the other, the music on, and a straw stuck to my lips sucking down some of my favorite scotch.

Until Next Time,
Party Mom
